Targeted Hearing Screening Project: Logan




What is the Targeted Hearing Screening Project: Logan?
The project is an initiative to improve hearing screening access for children in the community and will run until June 2018.


Who does it cover?
The initiative offers free hearing screening for children and young people aged from six months to 16, who hold a current Medicare card and live in the Logan City Council catchment. It is performed by an Allied Health Assistant under the supervision of a Senior Audiologist.


Where is it based?
The project is being run at Level 1, Logan Central Community Health Centre, 97-103 Cnr Wembley and Ewing Roads, Logan Central QLD 4114.


How do I make an appointment?
You can make an appointment if you are concerned about your child’s:

• Speech and language development
• Pronunciation or speech clarity
• Hearing loss, raised by professionals working with your child (e.g. a teacher, family doctor or day care worker)
• Learning or behavioural development, which you feel may be related to hearing loss

What’s next after my appointment?
Following the appointment, you will be given a report outlining the results of the hearing screen and any recommendations for further follow-up, if necessary.
